Pinocchio: Unstrung is an upcoming British independent slasher film written by Matt Leslie and directed by Andrew Scott Bell, being produced by Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios. The film serves as the fifth installment of the Twisted Childhood Universe and is a horror retelling of The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.[2]

Production

Development

On January 17, 2024, Jagged Edge Productions announced the latest movie in this twisted public domain horror universe, Pinocchio: Unstrung. They also released the first look at a drawing that’ll be featured in the credits of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey II, teasing out the expansion of this universe. The producers told Bloody Disgusting, “Unannounced characters from the universe will be revealed in sketch drawings in the closing credits of Pooh 2 so keep an eye out!” The director and cast will be announced and Unstrung will go into production this summer with a theatrical release planned at this time for late 2024. ITN Studios and Premiere Entertainment are handling sales, with Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey producing.[2] The film will have little reliance on VFX and feature the character of Pinocchio as a practical doll. Todd Masters at MastersFx (creator of Chucky in the 2019 “Child’s Play”) will be taking the lead in all animatronics and puppetry, while the Prosthetics Studio (whose credits include films in the “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” franchises), will be handling much of the practical gore.[1]

Filming

Principal photography is set to begin in September 2024.[1]
